2021.09.20 12:10 Active-Neat-5511 Generation X Query On Millennial Living Arrangements

Gen X question about Millennials & Zoomers (Whatever we call people born after 1983)

  1. Why do Millennial live at home until age 40 when Gen X would move out at age 19 no matter how broke & live with 3 other teenagers in a room to pay the rent?
  2. Silent & Early Boomer sometimes kicked Gen X kids out but later Boomers seem to let Gen Y or Z live at home. Why? Why did Boomer & Silent parents sometimes kick Gen X kids out so young but not Gen X or Y? In 1991 as a 17 year old I often had high school friends kicked out of their parents house renting their own apartments.
  3. How do Millennial or Gen Y have sex? I mean they live at home? How do they deal with the danger of Dad coming out nude upstairs with his dong hanging out when their GF comes over? Isn't this embarrassing? Is that why Gen Y are porn addicts?

2021.09.20 12:10 throw11117363qyjb New employee rushing me to sign contract. At what point is it legally binding?

Hi,
I’ve accepted a new job for a director level position.
My new employer is in rush for me to sign the contract. As in it was sent this morning, they asking for it to be returned tomorrow.
Obvious red flag. Looking through the contract there is nothing out of the ordinary, seems to be pretty much straight out of the box.
My question is if I were to sign would I be committed to the start date?
If I didn’t start on the given date would I be in breach of contract?
My present employer has not taken the news of my departure well. It seems I’m essentially to the operation, I disagree. I’m working a 3 month notice period anyway.
My present employer is insisting on “putting together a package” to tempt me to stay. They haven’t gone into details, potentially I’ll have that details of the package next week.
Although unlikely, I may end up staying.
Should I stall signing the contract until I’m sure I’m joining?
Thank you.

2021.09.20 12:10 DJH_2036 Options and Contracts for Next Year

Options and Contracts for Next Year Currently there are nine players on options for next year (Beric, Calvo, Collier, Gimenez, Kronholm, Medran, Omsberg, N. Slonina, Stojanovic) and three out of contract (Bornstein, Kappelhof, Shuttleworth). All of these players account for over $9 million via MLSPU, though options for next year may offer different amounts. A change in management may impact the players who're let go and brought back, but I doubt it makes too much of an impact. Most of these are pretty baked in at the moment, in my opinion.
https://preview.redd.it/54do1ta8kmo71.png?width=1075&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb3c46e85beb4b89ddda55d346777509bc7d7c52
For Omsberg and Stojanovic, the option seems pretty simple honestly.
  • Stojanovic has been one of (if not THE) Fire's best players this year. While his contract isn't exactly cheap ($373k), he's shown to be servicable, even if it's just coming off the bench providing help.
  • As for Omsberg, he's been decent enough this year to justify staying IMO. He's younger (26 next season) and fairly cheap ($85k) so it's not the biggest hit if he's kept, and since he's more of a backup anyways?
For Medran the biggest setback is salary ($1m), but that likely doesn't matter. I'd expect them to exercise his contract then sell him to Spain. If he doesn't end up going? Then I'd expect him to be a starter next season, or loaned to Lugano.
Bornstein, Collier, Shuttleworth, and Slonina are all the question marks.
  • Bornstein's played well, but with his age (37 at the start of next season) and current salary ($323k) there is a question about whether they keep him, or he leaves and goes elsewhere or just retires. He's said he wants to play till 40, so if he feels up to it I wouldn't be shocked if he's re-signed with options for a few years, possibly on a smaller pay.
  • For Collier, I think it's obvious. He's not all that great of a player, but at the same time he can be helpful on the field and is a hard worker, plus given his age (27 next season) and salary ($101k) it wouldn't be shocking to see him be brought back as depth.
  • For Shuttleworth the biggest question is Gaga IMO. If the management think Gaga is ready to take the reigns, do they want Shuttleworth back as a backup, or does he want a starting job elsewhere? Shuttleworth is a decent enough keeper in MLS, though he does make some mistakes. But as a backup he'd be a great one, but does he want to try and start elsewhere? His salary isn't that big of an issue ($125k)
  • And finally, as for Nicholas Slonina, I just don't know what they want with him. Dude was signed in December of 2019, and he hasn't seen a field since. Per Transfermarkt he's been on the bench five times, and that's it. He's still young (20) and doesn't count against the cap as a Homegrown, but damn... What do they plan on doing with him?
Calvo is the only guy who I think they renegotiate with. With his salary ($903k) he's officially the fourth highest paid player on the team, behind Gimenez, Beric, and Medran, and ahead of Aliseda. I think he's decent enough to warrant a negotiation, but not to return outright. At that salary for a centerback, you better be talking about a major dominant force (discounting Basti I believe he's the highest paid defender in Fire history). Calvo is currently the 13th highest paid defender in MLS, making it hard to justify returning at this salary given how he's played. If there's a team extremely interested in him, I could see them exercising his option and trading him. But unless that happens? Decline and sit down to discuss if nothing else.
And finally, the four who I think are obviously not returning...
  • Beric as a DP has been nothing short of bad this season, and the same goes for Gimenez. Both seriously need to go. I would've been OK giving Gimenez a "Decline then Negotiate" slot after the Copa America, but his play has gone downhill and after being left from the team yesterday? And with Beric having BLOCKED the Fire from scoring more than he's actually scored? Yeah, no. Get rid of both and sign two major DPs who're guaranteed to make an impact (like Pineda and... IDK, maybe Mike Magee returns?).
  • As for Kapp... As much as it pains me to say, it's time to move on from him. He's gone downhill from the 2017 Kapp, and I just don't think his staying around is worth it anymore. Maybe if you negotiate him down? But even then, he's nothing more than depth at this point behind Teran, Pineda, maybe Omsberg, and possibly Calvo and Bornstein depending on options. He's played poorly this year aside from a few moments in a few games. While he's definitely the one player I'd be willing to move into "Unknown" here, I don't see it happening.
  • And finally, Kronholm. ACL tear has left him out for over a year, Gaga and Shuttleworth have locked down the #1 and #2 slots, he's technically a TAM player ($632k), he'll be 36 next season, and he isn't that great of a keeper. Of all the options, this is the most obvious. I think it's extremely likely Kronholm will outright retire or try his hand in USL.
Of note, I'd also expect a few under-contract players to be the subject of trade rumors- namely Aliseda. Aliseda's best asset at this point is his Young DP status which let's the Fire sign more U-22 initiative players, with Duran and F. Navarro being the first two. But uh, that's pretty much all his value at this point. Beyond him, I wouldn't be shocked if the Fire sell a few more players who likely have some interest.
